In this essay, I will discuss both perspectives and ultimately conclude that plastic pollution should be regarded as one of the most pressing environmental problems today.

On one hand, proponents of the view that plastic pollution is less significant than other environmental issues assert that deforestation and climate change have far more profound consequences for the Earth's ecosystems. They argue that the loss of forests leads to habitat destruction, loss of biodiversity, and exacerbates global warming, all of which are undeniably critical concerns. Moreover, they highlight that plastic pollution, although harmful, is only one component in the larger environmental crisis, and addressing it alone will not solve the broader issue.

On the other hand, those who advocate for the importance of addressing plastic pollution emphasize its devastating effects on marine life. Plastic waste accumulates in the ocean, endangering the health and survival of countless species. Fish ingest microplastics, which can cause physical harm or disrupt their reproductive systems. Additionally, plastic debris entraps and kills marine animals, such as turtles and seabirds.
