This essay will examine both the positive and negative impacts of gentrification on urban neighborhoods, discussing factors that contribute to these changes and proposing potential solutions to mitigate its detrimental effects.

On one hand, gentrification can be viewed as a catalyst for economic growth and development in urban communities. As wealthier individuals move into gentrified neighborhoods, they often bring with them increased spending power, which can stimulate local economies by supporting existing businesses and attracting new ones (Marcuse, 2017).
