For instance, social media played a pivotal role in the Arab Spring, where citizens used these platforms to organize protests against oppressive regimes. Additionally, platforms such as Twitter and Facebook have become essential tools for politicians and political parties to reach out to their constituents and mobilize support.

On the other hand, social media can also contribute to a polarization of opinions and create echo chambers where individuals are exposed only to viewpoints that align with their own. This can lead to a lack of critical thinking and an inability to engage in meaningful debates. Moreover, the spread of misinformation and fake news through social media has become a significant concern as it can undermine the democratic process and manipulate public opinion.
