To begin with, it is essential to understand that deforestation leads to habitat loss, which in turn has a direct impact on biodiversity. The destruction of forests results in the extinction of various species that rely on these ecosystems for their survival. For example, the Amazon rainforest is home to an estimated 400 billion individual trees, providing a habitat for over 390 billion insects, 2.5 million plant species, and thousands of animal species. The loss of this diverse environment has serious implications for the balance of the ecosystem and the survival of numerous species.

On the other hand, it is important to recognize that deforestation may not be the sole factor contributing to the decline in biodiversity. Climate change, pollution, and human intervention all have a significant impact on ecosystems worldwide. For instance, rising sea levels due to climate change threaten coastal ecosystems such as coral reefs and mangroves, which are crucial habitats for numerous species. Similarly, water and air pollution can lead to the extinction of certain species that are sensitive to these environmental changes.

Additionally, human intervention in the form of urbanization and agricultural expansion also poses a threat to biodiversity.
