Firstly, social media has significantly raised public awareness about important issues by providing a platform for individuals to share their thoughts, opinions, and experiences. Through the use of hashtags and viral campaigns, social media users can quickly spread information about relevant topics, such as climate change, human rights, or political corruption. For instance, the #MeToo movement, which aimed to shed light on the widespread issue of sexual harassment and assault, was initially fueled by social media conversations and eventually gained global recognition. As a result, public awareness has been heightened, and in some cases, this has led to legislative changes and increased societal vigilance against such issues.

Secondly, social media has played a crucial role in promoting political participation among citizens.
