On one hand, social media offers students a means of communication, allowing them to connect with friends and classmates both locally and globally. It provides an avenue for collaboration on academic projects and a platform for creative expression through blogging or sharing multimedia content. Social media can also help students stay informed about current events and access a wealth of information that can be used in their studies.

However, the overuse of social media can have detrimental effects on students' mental health. The constant need to update profiles, post interesting content, and receive validation through likes, shares, and comments can lead to feelings of low self-esteem and anxiety. Students may also experience a fear of missing out (FOMO) as they compare their lives with those of their peers online, leading to feelings of inadequacy and envy.
