On one hand, implementing mandatory drug testing in schools can be seen as an effective way to detect and address substance abuse among students. Schools are responsible for the safety and well-being of their students, and regular testing could help identify those who are at risk or already involved in drug use. Early intervention through counseling or rehabilitation programs could then be provided, which might prevent students from developing a long-term drug habit. Moreover, if schools take a proactive stance against drug use, it can send a strong message to students that such behavior is not tolerated, and it may even deter potential users from trying drugs in the first place.

On the other hand, mandatory drug testing raises several concerns. Privacy rights are one of the main issues; requiring students to undergo drug tests could be seen as an invasion of their personal lives. Additionally, there are questions about the accuracy and reliability of drug test results. False positives or negatives may lead to unnecessary stigmatization or punishment of innocent students, while those who know how to mask the presence of drugs may avoid detection altogether.
