This essay will discuss two main perspectives: the first being that society is growing more distrustful of institutions, and the second arguing that trust in institutions is increasing. After examining both viewpoints, I will express my own opinion on this matter.
On one hand, it can be argued that society's level of trust in institutions has been decreasing. This decline is attributed to a variety of factors, including political scandals, corporate malfeasance, and the proliferation of misinformation. For instance, cases of corruption, nepotism, and bribery among politicians have eroded public confidence in government institutions. Similarly, instances of fraudulent practices, unfair labor policies, and environmental damage by corporations have led to a loss of trust in private institutions. In addition, the rise of social media has facilitated the spread of misinformation, causing people to question the credibility and reliability of information provided by institutions.
Contrarily, it can be argued that society's trust in institutions is actually increasing.
