This essay will examine both perspectives and provide evidence to support the conclusion that overall, society is becoming more engaged in volunteer work.

On one hand, it can be argued that contemporary society is less inclined towards volunteering due to various factors. One significant factor contributing to this viewpoint is the rise of busy lifestyles and long working hours. The modern world has witnessed a shift from manual labor to more knowledge-based work, which often requires longer hours at work or school, leaving individuals with little time to engage in voluntary activities. Moreover, the increasing demand for professional qualifications has pushed people into continuous education and training programs, further reducing the time available for volunteering.

Another aspect to consider is the prevalence of social media and digital communication. The ease of staying connected with friends and family through various platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp has led to a shift in priorities, causing people to prioritize their personal relationships over community involvement.
