Others contend that the decline in traditional values and the rise in materialistic tendencies have led to a decrease in volunteer participation.

On one hand, it can be argued that society's involvement in volunteer work has been growing. The rise in environmental consciousness has led to more individuals taking part in clean-up drives and conservation efforts. Additionally, with the emergence of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focused on various social causes, there is a greater opportunity for people to engage in voluntary work. Moreover, the use of technology and social media have facilitated networking among like-minded individuals, leading to an increased interest in volunteering.

On the other hand, it can also be argued that society's engagement in volunteerism has been waning. The fast-paced lifestyle and the emphasis on personal achievement have resulted in a shift from communal living towards individualistic pursuits. Furthermore, the rise of the gig economy and the increasing number of temporary or contract jobs may discourage people from committing to long-term volunteering initiatives due to unstable employment situations.

In conclusion, whether society is becoming more or less engaged in volunteer work depends on various factors such as awareness about social issues, technological advancements, personal priorities, and economic conditions.
