For example, online forums and social media platforms have provided people with opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations and build relationships, thereby promoting a greater sense of compassion and understanding.

On the other hand, there are factors that could contribute to a decline in societal empathy. The rise of social media has also given rise to cyberbullying, which can be extremely harmful and damaging to individuals' self-esteem and well-being. Additionally, the constant exposure to negative news stories and events can desensitize people to the suffering and struggles of others, leading to a decrease in empathy.
