On one hand, technology has led to innovations that promote sustainability. For instance, renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power have reduced the reliance on fossil fuels, which are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Additionally, advancements in agriculture, such as precision farming techniques and genetically modified crops, have improved crop yields while reducing the use of water, land, and chemicals.

On the other hand, technology has also contributed to unsustainable practices. The rapid growth of digital communication and entertainment industries has generated electronic waste that is difficult to manage responsibly. Moreover, automation and artificial intelligence have led to job displacement, exacerbating income inequality and social unrest.

In conclusion, while technology has facilitated sustainable development in some areas, it has also presented challenges that require careful management. Striking a balance between harnessing the benefits of technology and mitigating its negative impacts is crucial for ensuring long-term sustainability.
