On one hand, technology has brought about numerous benefits in terms of efficiency and sustainability in urban planning. For instance, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become an essential tool for planners to analyze spatial patterns and trends, helping them make informed decisions regarding land use and infrastructure development. Furthermore, the implementation of smart city technologies, such as IoT sensors, has allowed cities to monitor and optimize various aspects like traffic flow, energy consumption, and waste management, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable urban environment.

On the other hand, there are concerns that technology-driven urban planning may lead to a loss of cultural identity and social cohesion in cities. The increasing reliance on automated systems and digital technologies could inadvertently contribute to the homogenization of urban spaces, eroding the unique characteristics that make each city special. Additionally, as cities become more reliant on technology, there is a risk of exacerbating social inequality, with those lacking access to advanced technologies being left behind in terms of education, employment, and overall quality of life.
