The role of nanotechnology in medical research can be examined through two primary aspects: diagnostics and therapeutics. In terms of diagnostics, nanomaterials have demonstrated the ability to detect diseases at an early stage, thereby increasing the chances of successful treatment. For example, gold nanoparticles have been used to create highly sensitive biosensors for the detection of cancer biomarkers, allowing for early diagnosis and potentially saving lives. Additionally, magnetic nanoparticles have shown promise in the development of non-invasive imaging techniques such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), which can provide detailed information about the structure and function of the human body without any harm.
