Firstly, excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides in modern agriculture is a major contributor to environmental degradation. The overuse of synthetic fertilizers leads to an increase in nitrogen and phosphorus levels in water bodies, causing eutrophication and algal blooms that destroy aquatic ecosystems.
