For example, improving animal breeding techniques could lead to more efficient use of resources and reduce the environmental impact of livestock farming. Additionally, adopting sustainable practices such as rotational grazing and organic farming could help mitigate some of the industry's negative effects on the environment. Furthermore, technological advancements in the meat processing sector, such as the development of lab-grown meat, may offer a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional methods.

On the other hand, opponents of the meat industry contend that its long-term sustainability is highly unlikely due to several factors.
