On one hand, proponents of mandatory community service requirements claim that it has several advantages. Firstly, it teaches students to become responsible members of society by actively participating in activities that help others less fortunate than themselves. This, in turn, develops empathy and compassion, which are essential life skills needed for personal growth. Secondly, engaging in community service can provide students with practical experience and knowledge that cannot be gained through traditional classroom learning. For example, students who participate in environmental conservation projects will learn about the importance of sustainability and eco-friendly practices. Lastly, it has been suggested that mandatory community service requirements may improve students' self-esteem and self-confidence as they contribute positively to their communities.

On the other hand, opponents of this proposal argue that imposing such a requirement on students might infringe upon their personal freedoms and values.
