Model Answer:

Cultural diversity can be seen as one of the most significant factors contributing to the development and progress of modern society. In this essay, I will argue that cultural diversity is indeed beneficial for society in a number of ways.

Firstly, cultural diversity brings about a richer understanding of different perspectives, traditions, and histories. People from diverse cultures can learn from one another and gain a broader perspective on life, leading to more informed decisions and problem-solving abilities. For instance, the exchange of ideas between Eastern and Western medicine has led to significant advancements in medical practices worldwide.

Secondly, cultural diversity helps promote tolerance, respect, and empathy among individuals. By interacting with people from different backgrounds, one becomes more open-minded and understanding, which are crucial traits for fostering a harmonious society. This is particularly important in today's globalized world where people from all walks of life come into regular contact with each other.

Lastly, cultural diversity spurs innovation and creativity, as different cultures bring unique ideas, techniques, and solutions to various problems. In the field of arts, for example, the fusion of Western classical music and traditional African rhythms has resulted in the creation of groundbreaking musical styles that appeal to a broad audience.

In conclusion, cultural diversity is indeed beneficial for society as it enriches our understanding, promotes tolerance and empathy, and spurs creativity and innovation. By embracing and celebrating diversity, we can create a world where every individual's unique contributions are valued and appreciated.

Overall Band Score: Based on the above criteria, this essay would likely receive an overall band score of 6.5, with strong coherence and organization but some grammar and vocabulary errors that may affect clarity at times.
