One notable example of a successful international agreement in combating climate change is the Paris Agreement, adopted by 196 parties in 2015. The primary goal of this accord is to limit global temperature rise to well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, with an ambition to keep the increase below 1.5 degrees Celsius. To achieve this, nations committed to submitting national plans, known as Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), outlining their efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Although the United States has announced its intention to withdraw from the agreement, other countries have continued to work towards its objectives.
