While it has undoubtedly created new jobs, particularly in the tech industry, it has also led to the displacement of some roles due to automation and digitalization. In this essay, I will analyze both perspectives of this argument and provide my own viewpoint on whether technology primarily creates or reduces job opportunities.

On one hand, technology has led to the creation of new jobs in various fields. The rise of the internet, for instance, has given birth to careers in web development, digital marketing, and cybersecurity. Additionally, advancements in artificial intelligence have spurred the demand for professionals skilled in AI research, development, and implementation. In these cases, technology has indeed created job opportunities that did not exist before.

On the other hand, it is also essential to consider the jobs lost due to technological advancements. Automation, particularly in manufacturing and assembly lines, has significantly reduced the need for manual labor. Self-service kiosks have replaced cashiers at many retail establishments, while artificial intelligence algorithms are taking over tasks previously performed by human employees. In these scenarios, technology has indeed reduced job opportunities.
