Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit enable them to connect with peers who share similar interests and exchange ideas related to academic subjects. Moreover, online forums and discussion groups allow students to seek help from teachers or fellow learners, thereby enhancing their understanding of complex concepts. Additionally, social media can be a valuable resource for staying informed about current events, which is essential in today's interconnected world. By following news outlets and influential figures, students broaden their perspectives and enrich their critical thinking skills.

However, the downside of social media usage among students is that it can hinder academic performance. For instance, the constant flow of information and notifications on platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat may distract learners from focusing on their studies. The temptation to scroll through feeds or engage in online chats during study sessions breaks concentration and reduces the quality of learning time. Furthermore, excessive use of social media can lead to sleep deprivation due to late-night browsing or addiction to gaming apps. As a result, students may experience fatigue, which affects their ability to concentrate and retain information.

In conclusion, while social media provides numerous benefits for students' academic performance, such as facilitating collaborative learning and offering easy access to information, it also presents challenges in the form of distractions and reduced study time quality.
