Firstly, climate change has led to alterations in temperature patterns, precipitation levels, and the frequency of extreme weather events. Rising temperatures can result in droughts, reducing crop yields, and affecting the availability of water resources. For instance, a study conducted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) found that maize and wheat yields could decrease by 30% and 20%, respectively, due to temperature increases in the mid-latitudes. Additionally, increased precipitation levels may lead to flooding, which can damage crops and infrastructure, further exacerbating food scarcity.

Secondly, climate change has caused shifts in pest and disease patterns, affecting crop production.
