Firstly, biotechnology has revolutionized the treatment of genetic disorders through gene therapy. By isolating defective genes and replacing them with functional genes, researchers have been able to cure or alleviate symptoms in patients suffering from conditions such as cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, and muscular dystrophy. For example, a recent study involving gene therapy for spinal muscular atrophy, a severe genetic disorder affecting infants, has shown promising results with a significant improvement in patient outcomes.

Secondly, biotechnology has significantly impacted the fight against infectious diseases.
