On one hand, international agreements have demonstrated their effectiveness through various initiatives such as the Kyoto Protocol (1997) and the Paris Agreement (2015), which have set ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. These agreements require signatory countries to monitor and report on their progress, thus ensuring that each nation is held accountable for their actions. Furthermore, international collaboration encourages the sharing of knowledge, technology, and resources among nations, fostering innovation and facilitating the development of sustainable solutions.

However, critics argue that international agreements may not be enough to combat climate change effectively.
