On one hand, learning a second language in school can have several advantages. Firstly, it improves cognitive skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity. Research has shown that bilingual individuals tend to outperform monolinguals in these areas due to the constant process of switching between two languages (Bialystok, 2011). Secondly, becoming proficient in a second language opens up opportunities for employment and career advancement. In today's globalized world, companies often seek employees who can communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds. Lastly, learning a foreign language can foster cultural understanding and appreciation.
