In this essay, I will explore both perspectives and provide my own view on the matter.

On one hand, proponents of formal education assert that it is vital in shaping individuals' attitudes and behaviors towards sustainable living. Formal education systems typically offer a structured curriculum that covers various aspects of environmental issues, such as climate change, resource management, and conservation. Through this process, students are exposed to theories, concepts, and critical thinking skills that enable them to understand the importance of sustainability and make informed choices. For example, learning about the carbon footprint and its impact on global warming can inspire students to reduce their personal carbon emissions by adopting eco-friendly practices such as recycling, using public transportation, or choosing energy-efficient appliances.

On the other hand, some argue that informal learning through experience is more effective in promoting sustainable lifestyles. They believe that hands-on experience allows individuals to learn from real-life situations and adapt their behaviors accordingly.
