On one hand, technology has undeniably played a significant role in fostering empathy among individuals. The rise of social media platforms has allowed people from diverse backgrounds to connect and share their experiences with others. This sharing of personal stories and emotions can create a sense of unity and mutual understanding between users. For example, support groups formed on Facebook or online forums like Reddit enable individuals suffering from mental health issues or other personal challenges to find solace in shared experiences. Moreover, virtual reality (VR) technology has been employed in therapeutic settings to simulate situations that may otherwise be difficult to experience, thereby promoting empathy by placing people in the shoes of others.

However, there are also concerns that technology might be undermining our capacity for empathy.
