Some argue that the preservation of tangible heritage should take precedence over intangible heritage, while others claim that both types of heritage are equally important. In this essay, I will analyze these two perspectives and provide my own opinion on the matter.

Firstly, it is essential to understand what is meant by "intangible cultural heritage." This term refers to practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, and skills that are passed down from generation to generation. Examples of intangible heritage include traditional music, dance, language, oral histories, and customs. In contrast, tangible heritage includes physical objects such as monuments, artworks, and archaeological sites.

Proponents of preserving tangible heritage argue that it is more crucial because it provides a direct link to the past. They believe that by preserving physical artifacts, we can learn about historical events, civilizations, and technologies. Furthermore, tangible heritage often attracts tourists, generating revenue for local economies and promoting cultural understanding. For example, the Great Wall of China, an important tangible monument, attracts millions of visitors each year, contributing significantly to the Chinese tourism industry.

On the other hand, supporters of intangible heritage preservation emphasize its role in maintaining a society's identity and values.
