In this essay, I will argue that rather than having a longer school day, it would be more beneficial for schools to have a longer school year, as this approach can provide students with a better balance between academic and extracurricular activities, while also allowing teachers to cover a broader range of topics.

Firstly, extending the school day may lead to physical and mental fatigue among students due to the increased number of hours spent in classrooms. Research has shown that excessive study time without sufficient breaks can negatively impact students' concentration and retention of information. Additionally, longer school days could interfere with the extracurricular activities, which are essential for students' overall development and well-being. Sports, arts, and other clubs not only help students develop their talents but also foster teamwork and social skills that are crucial in today's world. Therefore, a longer school day may not be the best option as it might compromise students' physical health and emotional well-being.

On the other hand, having a longer school year offers several advantages.
