Part 1: Introduction and Interpersonal Relationships

5. In general, are people from your country friendly or not very friendly with foreigners? Give some reasons to support your answer.
6. Describe a person from your country that you think has an important influence on the world. Why is this person significant in your view?
7. Can you name some of the most popular sports played in your home country, and are you a fan of any of them yourself?
8. What kind of music do people in your country listen to, and do you like it or prefer something different?
9. Are there any famous sights or landmarks from your country that you particularly enjoy visiting? How about the one you dislike the most? Why is this?
10. In your opinion, what are some of the main stereotypes about people from your country and do you think they are fair or unfair?
Part 2: Cue Card - Describe a time when you had to navigate through a social challenge. You should talk about the following points:
- What was the situation and why was it difficult for you?
- How did you handle this situation, what steps did you take to overcome the difficulty or challenge presented by the problem?
- What were some of the challenges that you faced while navigating through this social situation, and how did you deal with them?
- Did you receive any support from anyone in overcoming this difficulty, and if so, who helped you and how exactly did they help you?
Part 3: Conversation Topics (including a mix of general topics as well as those related to the cue card topic)
1. How do people in your country usually spend their free time? What about people from this country (or city)?
2. What are some of the differences between social customs and etiquette in your home country compared with here (in this country/city)?
3. In what ways can a person learn to adapt to new social situations when moving to a different country or culture?
4. How important is it for people to understand different cultures, and why? Can you give some examples of the benefits of understanding other cultures?
5. What do you think are the main challenges that international students face when studying in a foreign country, especially in terms of social life and making friends?
6. In your opinion, what role should schools play in educating their students about different cultures and helping them to develop intercultural understanding and communication skills?
