Talk about a memorable encounter you had with nature. Describe the experience, where and when it happened, and explain why it was so unforgettable for you.
Model Essay:
In May 2018, I embarked on a hiking trip in the Himalayan mountains of Nepal. The trek was an arduous one, taking us through dense forests, across high-altitude passes, and over steep mountain ridges. One particularly unforgettable encounter with nature occurred during this journey when we crossed a river via a swaying suspension bridge.
The day was clear and cold as we approached the bridge. The Bhote Koshi River, which flowed beneath us, was in full force due to the recent snowmelt from the higher elevations. As I stepped onto the shaky wooden slats of the bridge, I was gripped with a sudden fear that momentarily paralyzed me. The gusty wind only added to the suspense as it swayed the bridge violently back and forth.
Despite the trepidation, the experience was incredibly memorable because it tested my physical and mental endurance. Moreover, the encounter instilled in me a newfound respect for nature's raw power. It also served as a reminder of how important it is to be cautious when venturing into the outdoors, especially in challenging terrains like the Himalayas.
