Part 2 (Cue Card):
Title: A famous historical event from your country.
Describe a famous historical event from your country. You should say:
- what the event is
- where and when it took place
- who was involved in the event
- the impact or significance of the event on your country's history
You will have 1 minute to talk about this topic, and you will then be asked some questions related to your story.
For example: If you spoke about the "French Revolution," you might talk about:
- what the French Revolution is (a period of radical social and political change in France)
- where and when it took place (from 1789 until around 1799, in France)
- who was involved in the event (many prominent figures like Maximilien Robespierre, Georges Danton, and Napoleon Bonaparte played a significant role in the Revolution)
- the impact or significance of the event on your country's history (the French Revolution had far-reaching effects on European politics, law, and society. It abolished the monarchy, set up a republic, and greatly contributed to the development of democracy, nationalism, and human rights)
Part 3:
1. How has globalization affected your country's culture and traditions in recent years? What are some positive and negative impacts of it on your country's society and economy?
2. How important is history to a nation's identity? Can you think of any historical figures or events that have significantly shaped your country's values or beliefs today?
3. In what ways has technology changed the way we communicate with each other, especially in your country? What are some advantages and disadvantages of these changes for individuals and society as a whole?
4. What role does education play in promoting cultural understanding between different countries and societies? How can it help reduce stereotypes or misconceptions about foreign cultures?
5. How do you think the world might look like in 50 years' time, especially in terms of technology and global relations among nations?
