Part 1: Introduction and Interview
1. What is your full name? Can you tell me something about the name you have chosen for yourself?
2. Where are you from originally, and where do you live now? How long have you lived in your current location, and what brought you here?
3. Do you work or study? If you work, what is your occupation? If you study, what are you studying and where do you go to school or college?
4. What are your hobbies and interests? Are there any activities or clubs that you participate in outside of your work or studies?
5. Have you made any significant changes in the past year or so in your life? If yes, what are they and why did you make these changes?
Part 2: Cue Card Topic
In this part of the speaking test, you will have a topic given to you by the examiner. You will have one minute to prepare a short speech on the subject, and then you will have about four to five minutes to speak. Here is the cue card for today's test:
Topical Cue Card:
"Describe a place that you have visited recently and that had a significant impact on you."
- Where is the place located?
- How did you travel to get there?
- What did you do during your visit there?
- Can you share an interesting experience from this trip, or something that left a lasting impression on you?
- How has this visit affected you since returning home, and what memories do you have of the place?
Part 3: Details and Discussion
In this part of the speaking test, the examiner will ask you questions based on your cue card topic. The purpose of this section is to explore your thoughts, ideas, and opinions in more depth. Here are some potential follow-up questions for the given cue card:
1. How do places impact or influence people, in your opinion? Can you provide an example from your own life experience or observations?
2. What are the essential factors that make a place memorable or significant for you personally when visiting it? For instance, is it the natural beauty of the location, the cultural or historical aspects, the people you met there, or something else entirely?
3. How do your travels and visits to different places affect your perspective on life, your beliefs, or your values? Share some specific examples from your own experiences if possible.
4. In what ways can traveling to new places help individuals grow personally, emotionally, or intellectually, in your opinion? Provide an argument with supporting evidence from your own experiences.
5. How do you think technology has impacted the way we travel, especially when it comes to visiting new places and learning about different cultures? What are some positive and negative aspects of this development, as you see it?
